Whoa animation rocks my socks!
Hey friends, so I am super excited about our upcoming 5 weeks with the Afterschool Animation class.
To get you all wicked excited, I thought I'd share some awesome animation and give you a fun history lesson.
So you've heard of the term pixilation before, yes?
Oh, but I bet you haven't heard of it in reference to animation..hmmmmm?
Oh well, let me explain!
So there was this rad guy named Norman Mclaren who developed a form of Stop Motion animation, which we call, Pixilation. I know what you're thinking... this chick is crazy, pixilation is when you make something in photoshop, blow it up...and you see all the pixels and the picture looks like crap.
Well, you're right..
That ALSO is pixelation (different spelling)..
What I am talking about is... Stop motion animation that involves the movement of people!
So my friend Norman Mclaren was, apparently, the first guy to experiment with using people as animation tools. The reason he called it "pixilation animation", is because when he animated people, he realized he could defy the laws of gravity, change the rules of physics and everything! Through animation, he could make people look like pixies! You know...like Tinkerbell...
Right..
So now you know!
So please, enjoy some pixilation animation!
