Welcome and first special guest!
Hi guys. Thanks for signing up for our DJ school! I hope you've enjoyed the first few weeks learning the basics with me. You can find out more about what I do and listen to some mixes and tracks I've made at my myspace and webpage.
Here are extra links to some of the stuff we've looked at so you can explore more on you own. You can follow links and images from the class on Hugh's class blog as well.
We looked at the documentary Scratch and learned how to rock a party with Z-Trip from the DVD's special features.
We also saw a quick video of DJ AM rocking a party beat matching some unexpected tunes in the mix.
That's of course in addition to the basics of a DJ setup with or without Serato, and elementary scratching and beat matching techniques.

Next week we'll have our fist special guest DJ, Die Young, in to show you guys his own unique musical and technical style. I highly recommend you check out his page and listen his latest mixtape (live from the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum) below in advance of the class so you get a little more background on what he's been up to lately.
