Video Ideas
1st Idea:
Showing contrast in peoples lives
ie. different communities within boston/different lifestyles/different cultures
2nd Idea:
A kid takes some type of serum (pill, liquid?) that makes them see the truth
They see flashses of the real life while living their own
(may even incorporate 1st idea)

chachachavella! happy new
chachachavella!
happy new years! looking forward to seeing you again in class!!
thanks so much for posting some great video project ideas! I have lots to talk to you about this especially with idea number one----
i really like projects that investigate things that are very familiar to you. even though you might think you know your environment like the back of your hand, it's always interesting to do some deeper investigating to gain a greater understanding to what is going on around you. what a better way to learn than to experience! also when you pick a very simple plan like this it gives you more of a chance to become creative in how you tell this story to your audience. you could find a very different or experimental way to portray a real life story. i am going to talk more about documentary in class next week because this is my very favorite topic and my specialty! the most exciting thing for me was to discover that documentary is not always just interviews, voice overs, and following people around. that is actually only one genre of documentary! there are six all together! so im not going to waste a bunch of space on your blog just yet because i would like to go over it in class and talk to you more about it in person but i think that this project could be very awesome if we do some sick pre production planning together and first off focus mostly on your message that you are trying to get across and giving this some special chavella touches. this is a subject that i think everyone tries to explore in every medium because it is also a good way to investigate yourself. so that means the way that you display it has to be the unique part! not to mention, if you do a documentary then you don't have to worry about pesky actors and other peoples' schedules and whatnot. so theres a lot to talk about!
the only reason why i was not as super psyched about the second idea is that while it sounds very cool, it might be hard to pull off in the limited time frame we have. it seems like we have months but if you really break it down there is only like 2 weeks for each stage of this project. so that's something that you always have to keep in the back of your mind. i want you to really get a sense and enjoy every step of the movie making process and if you try to tackle too much then you spend more time pulling your hair out then actually doing anything. I wasn't sure what you meant by seeing the truth. Would people look different? Would signs and advertisements be changed? How would you show this? What kind of effect would you use to switch back and forth between truth and reality? These are also tough things to think about. Sometimes it's easy to write these ideas out but a whole other story to show it without words or without you explaining every step. But if you have more in mind let's please discuss further! I'm open minded!
See you soon!
