This documentary tells the story of two childhood friends who move on
to college. They keep in touch by writing letters back and forth. One
goes to a huge university and couldn’t be any lonelier. Another goes
to a community college and couldn’t be any busier.
Edwin goes to UMASS Amherst. Everyday feels the same. Even though he
attends a huge university, he feels alone and unnoticed. He tries to
fit in and find find genuine friends but finds little success. Edwin
goes form being outgoing to shy and a nervous. He's basically a whole
new person.
Yesenia attends Bunker Hill Community College. Everyday is different
and sporadic. Although she finds college to be fun, balancing school,
work, family life and a relationship tends to be difficult. She
explores what it means to grow into an adult when the world around
still seems to treat her like a child.
The documentary will have some narrative aspects to it. It will be
told by using split screen and voice overs. The voice overs are the letters themselves.
I would like the images on screen to show how drastic the lives between these two characters
really is.
While Edwin is Reading my letters, the screen will show me doing those actions. recapturing what was going in my life at the time and vice-versa.

Artist statement
Film-making is a way of self expression. i use this media to tell deep
and personal stories that i normally wouldn't tell. I hope that when
people see my films, they connect with them and can relate to my life
stories.
Bio:
My name is Yesenia de Leon. I'm currently 18 years old and into my
first year at bunker hill community college. I stared Real to Reel
film school when i was 15 years old. Over the past 3 years I've
learned that my love for film-making has only gotten stronger. I hope
to get my bachelors degree in communications at Boston University or Emerson College.
I enjoy playing video games, house music, doing chores, spending quality time with loved ones and eating chicken mc nuggets!
Mentor:
My mentor would either use the medium of photography or film. That
would be a plus. I would like to work with someone who isn't afraid to
take risks and shows it in their work.
Production i would need help in :
The only thing i see myself needing help in would be in
post-production. I would like to have another pair of eyes help me
with the editing.
