Muslim piece
I would love to do this piece . I n the past year I have encountered many people who left Moroco to come to USA. I would like to make a piece showing the challenges of being a Muslim living in America.
Some of the challenges I have recognized:
- trying to Prey five times a day and being at work or school
- Respecting all of the standards of your culture while being surrounded by people with little to no standards

I am excited about the idea
I am excited about the idea of you creating a piece that reflects on the situation of others. Maybe it could be focused just on the issue of praying. That is something that a lot of people don't think about. I am wondering how you might be able to allow people in without making seem so foreign. What is something that you could relate it to?
Are you in touch with any of those people that have come from Morocco? Have you talked to them about this idea?
Next steps:
find out if there is anyone that would be interested in working with you on this as a subject
Think about the format. Is this sound or sound and video, is it documentary, narrative or more experimental.
Maybe this is an installation. Something about numbers and location...
Hey Kameko! I agree and think
Hey Kameko!
I agree and think that you are off to a strong start by already recognizing one of the difficulties for you to focus on. This is something I heard on This American Life a while ago that I think is really relevant to your idea and also I think it's interesting how effective it is even though it is only audio. I thought maybe you would dig it since your last piece was an audio piece as well. But the way they structure their documentaries over the radio it's easy to get sucked in and imagine everything they are saying.

I also can see the theme of prayer in our modern society being very interesting as a narrative if you are into writing and just showing maybe a day in the life of a muslim girl/boy and the difficulties of finding a place of peace in this fast paced hectic world we live in.
Who are the Morocans that you know? Would you be able to use them in this piece?
Can't wait to hear more!

Happy New Year Kameko! Hope
Happy New Year Kameko! Hope you have been having a fun, warm, and relaxing break!
So I wanted to talk to you more about your final project. Last time I saw you in class you had mentioned something about a scary basement at MIT. I was wondering what exactly you were thinking of doing with that? Would you do a more dramatic project where you write a script? This locations sounds like it has a lot of promise! Something that you should make sure of though is how easily it is for you to access it and if you have permission, what days would you be able to do it? When you are using other people's property they like to make the rules and sometimes your life miserable. So since there is a time limit on the shooting of this project it's important to figure out how much time MIT will give you before you invest too much time into something that might not be possible to do for this class.
Can't wait to hear more about what you are thinking!
