maddy's sound piece
for my sound piece i would like to combine the days the school faculty told my brother and i that there was something wrong with our brains and we didnt have the same potential as other kids and we would never be successful or happy and there was nothing positive we could contribute to the world; we would be a burden to our friends and family and society as long as we lived if we did not take their pills. the message will be that my brother is the smartest kid i know and he doesnt need pills to be successful and happy because he will never be an investment banker but he will be the happiest person in the world in morocco as a tribal medicine man who specializes in telling your future based on the size, shape, positioning and dexterity of your shit. society is supposed to teach you that you dont need chemicals to find happiness.

The subject is a great one to tackle. What are the sounds, besides the faculty, that would bring people in to this story? Is it your voice/narration? The scope sounds big. How do you imagine taking us from the office to Morocco? Granted, this is easier with sound than with video. Give me a rough script of how this will play out, and then list out all of the specific sounds that you imagine.
Also, take a look at Andrew Katz piece, MAY/cause

Maddy, I agree with Joe, this
Maddy,
I agree with Joe, this is a hefty subject to explore. Can you hone in on a specific story, or instance, or conversation? It's totally possible to get this great message through with a simpler story. Are you thinking of using the audio of a school faculty member talking, or will both you and your brother also speak? Will there be a narrator?

This is a really great and
This is a really great and important idea - I like where you're going with it (to echo Joe, definitely take a look at Andrew's piece, which has the same message and doesn't have any dialogue). It's big in scope and could easily be your final project! What are the sounds you envision using?
