Ideas for a Sound Project.

My idea for a sound project involves the same concept as the veteran's war, but you get to feel the situation as if it were actually happening. Ideas revolving around that are bank robberies, emergency hospital events, school shooting, something related to everyday situations. I don't think people realize the danger and fear you get when you're in situations like the ones I described. You hear it on the news, everyday, but you really can't say its a horrible experience until you experience it first hand.

Other ideas I thought up of are situations where it somehow turns into a comical story, rather than a terrible experience. I don't have much hope for this idea, due to the fact that it is very difficult to turn something like a bank robbery or a school shooting into something hilarious. But the idea is still there so I have something to fall back on.

Hey Elwin, I agree with you

Hey Elwin,

I agree with you on both counts: people don't often know how this effects those that do experience it. This is why having empathy is such a difficult thing. Before you move to far into any of these ideas, can I ask you to think of something that either you or someone you know has first hand experience with? That will always make a much more powerful piece.

Hey Elwin! While I think that

Hey Elwin!
While I think that these ideas have the potential to be very powerful sound experiences, like Joe said it's hard to pull off without experience to work from. The piece that we saw upstairs was created after lots and lots of research. The part I liked the most was when you said "something related to everyday situations". Maybe you could simplify this project into something you know and are familiar with by picking one of your own everyday situations. Next time you are out and about, waiting for the train/ bus, sitting in school, or in your house, close your eyes and try to zone totally into what is happening audibly in your surroundings. Picking a topic that is simple is great because then it gives you a chance to get more into the audio recording and editing rather than spending a lot of time on the concept. I think you have a real keen eye and ear for observations so I know you would be able to take something that most people think is boring, or don't think about at all and make it really interesting!
Can't wait to talk more!
