Technical Goals for this year:
I would really like to improve my audio/sound skills. In my first piece, "A Good Yarn," some of my sound was not very good, and I think my sound improved in my next piece, "Aquafinito." Although I improved somewhat, I think I have a lot more to learn about how to make the sound even better. When thinking about film, I've always focused on the image, and through making some films, I have realized the importance of good quality sound and the effect bad sound has on a film.
I would also like to improve my shorts and work on setting up better shots. I had never made a documentary before my last piece, and while making that piece, I made mistakes in how I shot some of my interviews, but I now have a better understanding of how to do that kind of shot. Another goal I have that goes along with this goal is I want to work on really planning out my ideas before shooting, so that what I shoot turns out to be what I want.
Artistic Goal:
Along with improving my shoots, I think that some of the footage I film could be more interesting/artistic and I would like to work on that. I might think of more goals in this area...
Idea for this year:
The idea I have had for a piece (which very well could change) is to create a mocumentary of a college tour. I have gone on many of these recently and have found that there are many recurring aspects/occurrences/sayings in all of the tours. Some of them are very funny. I think it could also be funny because all of the funny aspects would be complied into one tour.
I'm looking forward to this year in Fast Forward :)

Annalise,
I think that your learning curve has been great. You are experiencing a lot in your production that is sometimes best learned while you create the work. Technically, focusing on sound is so important. Volunteer to work on other people's projects as well so you can get both more experience, and more help for your piece!!
Artistically, being creative with your shoots and composition would be a good focus this year. One way to practice this is to do a lot of photography. Just grab a still camera and shoot away. take 300 shots a week. 50 a day. Then we can go over them and look at whay makes one piece more interesting, aesthetic than another.
One final goal for you should be to finish up Aquafinito and submit it to as many festivals as you can.
I think the mock college tour would be really funny. You should totally script and preplan this one, shooting it in the early spring.
What are a list of moments/events that you think would

Hey Alla!
Excellent goals! As an audio person, it does me proud that you are interested in improving your sound skills. We can talk more about that; one thought is you could practice capturing good sound by doing a vox pop (maybe ask people to tell you their most ridiculous college tour story?) and then bringing it in to ProTools or Audacity so you can hear what went well and what didn't.
It's been fun watching you develop as a filmmaker and I love the idea of a mockumentary. You should check out How I Got Into College, which is a 1990s movie about the insanity of trying to get into a good school. I think you'd like it and it might spur some ideas. I think what Joe was going to ask you was what scenes/moments from your experience do you want to capture? I'd go ahead and start drafting a scene list/treatment.
Also, if you want suggestions for documentaries that get more creative with their shots, etc., you should check out American Teen (2008). I have other suggestions, too, so we should talk.
DEFINITELY finish Aquafinito and submit to film festivals!!!!!!
