Final Video Ideas

Primary Idea:
-A stop motion video about music stands. The things that people put their sheet music on when they play. Storyline: There are two stands. Stand 1 is main character, I might give it a name or something later. The stand goes around the town I live in, completely lost. Everything it sees looks foreboding and the stand is all alone. The stand goes around town and comes to a music store, where it has a sparkle of hope it might find a partner. It does not... there are no music stands in the store. Eventually, it finds music Stand 2 and they elope, but for some reason the happiness is still gone. Just before the credits fade up, music starts, the image gets brighter, and some sheet music appears on the stand. (by fading onto the stand) They found happiness.

In case you are wondering, it is TOTALLY a love story. And why shouldn't stands be allowed to find love?

Idea #2:
-Potentially stop motion but not necessarily. Life from the perspective of a stapler. It details a stapler from life to death. Creation, to De-Creation. The stapler is bought, brought into a classroom, and unpackaged and placed on a desk. It is loaded with a full stick of staples. Every time students use it to staple their papers or it gets jammed, it makes horrible painful sounding grunt-type noises. Eventually, it starts to get sick, and desperately sends out warning signals that people ignore. It gets sloppier, in terms of jamming more, it no longer has the strength it was born with and can't staple big packets. Then, it slowly runs out of staples to its death.

A sob-story. One would think it is funny, but the challenge would be to make it so that people laugh in the beginning, and in the end actually feel sad and then relate it to some other aspect of life.

Idea #3: Turn my audio project... into a video!

Gerald, I love the drive to

Gerald,

I love the drive to animate objects so that we feel for them. This is both a technical and directorial challenge. I think the music stand idea is good, but at this points it lacks the element that I think makes the fact that it is a music stand relevant. It also is more complicated because the stands are so large and cumbersome. How much stop motion have you done? You might want to talk to Prince about his experience.

The stapler ideas is funny as well. It could be really sad. And your indicated challenge would be the directorial one.

With either one of these it would be crucial for you to play around a bit with some stop motion to see what you feel comfortable doing.

Of the three ideas, which are you most drawn to?

I really want to do the

I really want to do the stapler idea. It would definitely require some dubbing over with sound FX and stuff, and would be a good opportunity to use some of the things we've been learning about with audio.
