Film Treatment

It will be stop motion.

It will feature one girl. Her clothing will constantly be changing. The clothing and the makeup will be very fantastic, very surreal. The theme will be a kind of chameleon thing. As she passes walls and things the colors and patterns and fabric will change to match. There will be at least a dozen backdrops, and the number of outfits is the same as the number of backdrops so there will be at least a dozen outfits. This will be planned out meticulously beforehand.

She will be walking somewhere. This may or may not be explained. However there will not be any dialogue either way. At this point in my imaginings it is purely aesthetics. It is more of a visual experiment. My goal is for it to fascinate, to look very beautiful and fluid.

She will be holding a stick in one hand, dragging it against the walls and fences that she passes. I am thinking there will be music, but if it sounds good I may just keep the sound of the stick hitting against all these varied surfaces, recorded separately of course.

It will be moving in one direction always. The ending of The 400 Blows comes to mind as having a camera motion similar to what I am thinking of:

But she will not be running. It will be more of a loose march or a dance.

A definite inspiration for the fashion element:
Fever Ray ‘When I Grow Up’ Music Video

And for how they dance / how they shoot the video:
Verlaines ‘Death and the Maiden’ Music Video

And then this was my initial inspiration:
Clip from the beginning of the movie ‘Ladies and Gentlemen the Fabulous Stains’

I still like the idea of the theme having something to do with a transformation into something else, into someone else. Corinne becomes a punk, doing her makeup and adjusting her attitude as the clip progresses, as the interview becomes more intense. This metamorphosis kind of feel, borrowed from this clip, is where the chameleon idea stemmed from.

I still kind of feel like I’m missing something? But I’m not sure what, I’m still figuring some of this out.
