Fast Forward Goals

My technical goal for Fast Forward '09 is to become a better editor. I'm already pretty good at editing, but I want as much experience as possible because editing is what I want to do as a career.
My artistic goals are to just try some other genre than comedy. Comedy is my strong point, so I want to experiment with other genres. I don't really have a specific genre in mind, just anything other than comedy. Whether its experimental or documentary or something completely different, it really doesn't matter to me. I just to reach out and some experience with other genres under my belt.

Jeremy, these are good goals. You are a good editor, so it will be exciting to see you develop and refine your skills. Compositing will be a good thing for you to play with.

Artisticly I agree, I think you could do well to try a form other than comedy. Comedy is safe because it asks the audience to have a good time. Sometimes an audience is not ready for more serious stuff, but who ever is willingly ready for it. I would love to see you incorporate your work with poetry into a piece. Do you want to explore something with or without words/dialogue?

In your next blog entry list out some possible themes or ideas that you would like to explore. Take a look at some of the other work on the site, as well, and think about genres that peak your interest.

Hey Jeremy! I think you are

Hey Jeremy!
I think you are very good at being funny (from what I've seen in Fruit Salad) and I respect you for wanting to branch out. There are so many directions to go in! What are some movies or directors that you like and respect? Also I was wondering what it is you hope to accomplish in editing since you already have a grasp of the basics. Maybe it's something that we could go over in class? Do you think you would interested in a narrative piece, which involves more writing? Or maybe something more experimental? So excited!
