Fast Forward Critique

I am always anxious about the critique process with the students. It is the first time that I get to see what the body of work will be for the final screening. The year's work comes to the screen for the first time. Each student sees his/her work up next to that of his peers'. It is a stressful day for all, both teacher and filmmaker, and yet each year I leave the crit excited, relieved, impressed and energized. This year was no different. After 2.5 hours of thoughtful presentation and comments from the students and teachers, i can again confidently say that the screening on May 22nd will be a wonderful selection of work, ranging in topics, skill levels, genre and artistry.

Congrats to all of my students and the teachers. I can't wait for the 22nd.
