Emo Documentary
Emo Documentary
The purpose of my emo documentary is to debunk all of the untrue stereotypes about the emo culture. I think is important because the emo culture has gone main stream and a lot of people seem to have forgot what the emo culture really is. Also, the emo culture is one of the most hated sub-cultures in the world right now and all the haters are really ignorate about the culture. I have a few people I want to interview. I want to interview my friend Alex, because he fits the physical stereotype of emo, but he doesn’t consider himself emo. I think he’ll be good in saying why he doesn’t consider himself emo and what he think emo really is. I also want to interview his girlfriend Roisin, because she could have similar insight on Alex. Also, Roisin considers herself emo so I want to know what about she thinks is emo. I think I will be a good person to interview because I’ve been around a lot of people who are “emo” and also, based on my interpretation of emo, I consider myself emo, but I don’t have the look of it at all. I also have two friends, Charlie and Peter, who fit the look of emo. I don’t know if the consider themselves emo but both are very knowledgeable about the culture. I also have a friend, Devin, who hates emos and I want to see why he hates them so much. I want to know what about the emo culture he doesn’t like and see if his reasons are stereotypes or real.
I also think it would be good to interview random people to see how the general public approves of emos. I think it would be best to get a wide range of ages from teenagers to old people to see how answers vary with age.

Jeremy, This is a good start.
Jeremy,
This is a good start. I like having Alex and Roisin is great since they know each other more intimately. I would really encourage you to explore these interviews deeply. Having Devin is important, otherwise you have no other voices, but if he "hates" emos, are you setting him up to look "stupid" or are you really looking to understand the misunderstanding? You might need a couple of other voices to offset the extremes.
Do you want to look at this from totally an insider's perspective? Do you want to add a clinical voice? A teacher? A parent?
You need to generate the list of questions that you want to ask each person. There would be one general list, and one that might have specifics for each person.
Beyond the people you are speaking with, I also want to know the specific things about emo culture you are wanting to explore/explain.
You should make an outline describing how would you break up your piece. Something like this, but make up your own categories
Style
Clothing
music
Finally, what is a list of all the supporting media you can use: Interviews, Photos, Music, Locations, videos/films, What are the specifics? What do you have and what do you need to collect?
Lots to do. Let's talk.

Hey man this seems like a
Hey man this seems like a good idea something no one else would do, I think to make it work you shouldn't just straight interview the cast but as well try and find a way to see how the different people live so that the audiance can understand where each person is coming from.
