Deck Design Graphics 101

Welcome to Deck Design 101, a Graphic Design class based on the work of Shepard Fairey.

In this class we will learn the tools and techniques necessary to create designs for specific templates; in our case the templates are skateboard decks and t-shirts.

We will learn the fundamentals and technical requirements of Graphic Design, and we will dive into two digital design programs, Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator.

Based on our exploration of the Fairey exhibit in the gallery, we will start our approach with iconic portraiture (ex. Obey Giant, Obama) and develop a similar process.

We will move toward creating backgrounds for the designs and adding text, and will ultimately take our designs out of the box (the computer) and learn how we can display them, through screening, stenciling and printing.
