Audiideas II

Audio Ideas FF 2011

-Last year's English class free verse poem, spoken over recorded sound effects and ambience.

-Sounds of skateboarding, maybe a journey to a off limits place (over/under a fence), maybe spraypainting sounds, peaceful moment, skateboarding back. (some overlap of sounds perhaps, so less narrative)

-minimalist song (floor tom drum + vox only)

-audio-only immersion into different levels of nature (possible transition from society to nature)

-someone being eaten by bugs or something
I'm probably going to do someone being eaten by bugs or something, immersed in some sort of horrible entity that consumes not only the flesh but the entire being of its victim. I don't really want to make it like a horror piece, but an experimental than narrative piece. Therefore, I won't really make it about the "victim", but the feeling, the atmosphere, which will require a lot of layering, and I won't do anything cheesy like recording someone screaming in agony, so that the audience member can become the "victim", or rather the subject of the piece itself. The environment of this audio will envelop the listener in its many folds of aural consumption, or at least I hope. I'm probably just going to record weird little 'sskjksjksjkskjsjsksjskj' noise, some subtle, and some more prominent. I think I'll use a sort of crescendo to show an increase in the environment. It's really not just the audio of being eaten by bugs, but the way I imagine that I want it to sound is sort of like scaphism, the insect torture by which Mithridates was executed. Not that I'm trying to create some sort of sick, barbaric situation, I just think it's an interesting to imagine listening to. I want to make people cringe, is all.
