Final Video Project
For my final project, I want to do a documentary on my job. My job involves doing research and spreading awareness on the inequalities with race in health care. The documentary would really help with the spreading awareness aspect of the job and just be really good for the project in general. However, the documentary would have to be done in two parts because it's a two year project so it wouldn't be done by the end of the year.
Sound Project
For my sound project, I want to record the sounds around my house in the early morning during the week. For instance, the alarm clocks and my dad yelling at my sister to wake up.
The sounds I will need to record are:
Alarm clocks
My Dad yelling
Footsteps
Doors opening and closing
Water running
Teeth brushing
My Mom talking/calling me and my sister
A space heater
At The End Of The Tunnel
My movie is an experimental piece that explores relationships and perception. The overall message of the movie is to remind people that no matter how hard life is, there is always a light at the end of the tunnel.
New Treatment
My yet to be named movie is an experimental movie that is open to any interpretation. The movie will have shots mean something very personal to me and my life, but can mean anything to anyone. It will touch mainly on subjects of drugs and relationships. At the beginning, the audio will be ambient noise, but after the introduction, it will change to music. I am hoping to get permission for "Fall For You" by Secondhand Serenade or "As You Wish" by Alesana.
Movie Treatment, Better Version
A Man Called García is a band on the rise from Massachusetts. They have two members; Jeremy Jawbreaker and Anastasia Millionbucks. Jeremy and Anastasia met while modeling in L.A. This film is about how the band formed and their rise to fame. Anastatia immediately noticed Jeremy's amazing (and non-existent) guitar skills during a break between photo shoots. She approached him about starting a band with Jeremy on guitar and Anastatia on vocals (Anastasia was actually good). Jeremy also does the screaming vocals. They were discovered while playing a concert at a hotel for a crowd of 1.
Movie ideas
For my movie, I have this one idea for an introduction. It goes something like: "Some people believe that everyone has a place in this world. If that's true, then I haven't found mine yet." I don't have much after that.
Or I could do a mockumentary similar to "Teeth," but I don't quite know what the subject would be but mockumentaries are fun :).
I don't really have a third idea right now.
Sound Piece Idea (in more depth)
I got permission to use a song by my favorite band, so that will be in the piece.
Pre-concert sounds:
I will having people talking to eachother while waiting in line. Mostly just samll talk saying how excited they are for the concert and asking who's opening etc. Also, once the get inside the venue, band members are usually just there walking around, so people asking for autographs would be a good sound to have.

JerJer's Interview
An audio exercise done in the first two classes of Fast Forward.
Haters Made Us Famous Info
Haters Made Us Famous is a short documentary on the emo culture. It has some interviews with some "normal" people who believe all the stereotypes and interviews with some actual emo kids who talk about the stereotypes and how they shouldn't just apply to them. Or how they shouldn't apply to them at all because it's not true. It also has a section on music to show what emo music is like. The message of the movie was that there is no reason to discriminate against people who are different. The purpose was to educate people about the emo culture.
Haters Made Us Famous
The purpose of my Emo documentary is to explore the Emo culture in greater depth and to debunk all of the untrue stereotypes. I think its important because the Emo culture has gone mainstream and a lot of people seem to have forgot what the Emo culture really is. Also, the Emo culture is one of the most hated and misunderstood sub-cultures in the world right now and all the haters seem really ignorant about the culture.

Follow-up questions
First Impression: Shepard Fairey
I noticed that there's a lot of propaganda in Shepard Fairy's work. What I really like about his work is how in almost all of his pieces, he used collage. If you looked really closely, you see cutouts of newspaper articles. I also like how he kept up the theme of Andre the Giant and obey in most of his paintings. What I want to know is that in his paintings, is the propaganda actual propaganda or is he making fun of propaganda?
Final Project Purpose
The purpose of my emo documentary is to debunk all of the untrue stereotypes about the emo culture. I think is important because the emo culture has gone main stream and a lot of people seem to have forgot what the emo culture really is. Also, the emo culture is one of the most hated sub-cultures in the world right now and all the haters are really ignorate about the culture. I have a few people I want to interview. I want to interview my friend Alex, because he fits the physical stereotype of emo, but he doesn’t consider himself emo.
Brainstorm Of Movie Ideas
DOCUMENTARIES
~the 60s
~high schools
~emo culture-disproving stereotypes
NARRATIVES
~kid with tourette's
~suicidal kid
~Call From Death
~Ace Of Spades
I'm leaning towards doing the documentary on the emo culture. A lot of times I get angry with people just following the stereotypes of emos' and I want to show them what the emo culture is really about. Also, I have some friends who are emo they would be good people to interview for it.
Joe Zane
My favorite piece in the running to win the foster prize is L'Una Figura, by Joe Zane. My first thing I thought of was the Sphinx, because they are both missing their noses. However, on Zane's piece this is intentional. I think that it was a very interesting idea and creative idea to make a piece with it's nose smashed on the floor. It was also a gamble, but personally, I really liked it and I think it works really well. The missing nose is what I really admire about the piece. I think the choice to use a sculpture for this was a good a idea.
Fast Forward Goals
My technical goal for Fast Forward '09 is to become a better editor. I'm already pretty good at editing, but I want as much experience as possible because editing is what I want to do as a career.
My artistic goals are to just try some other genre than comedy. Comedy is my strong point, so I want to experiment with other genres. I don't really have a specific genre in mind, just anything other than comedy. Whether its experimental or documentary or something completely different, it really doesn't matter to me. I just to reach out and some experience with other genres under my belt.
