project treatment

untitled, as of now

project ideas

Prospective setups:

Lessons learned: a stereotypical high school loner gives a tutorial on 'lessons learned' and highlights bizarre comical situations in which he's learned to adapt.

Maybe a short piece about the emotional weight of things. Having to ford some friends through tough times, and the sympathy and compassion needed end up taking a toll on you. (vague, undeveloped idea but i still like it) Dealing with various stresses. Focuses on someone and the emotional toll that it takes on her to see her friends struggling with their various demons (oooh)

SWEET SEGUIDILLE

It's a nice woodwind piece played by my school orchestra - could be potentially used for sound project

George Bizet's "Carmen"

OPERA and some obscene stuff

This is the Habanera from George Bizet's opera "Carmen". You hear primarily the cello section (and some of my bad cello playing) as well as soloist Terry Chen who is on viola.

Also, I yelled at someone at the end because they squeezed the windscreen and I sound like a complete diva ("It's a windscreen, GOD!"), so I apologize to Joel

the last minute or so may get kind of raunchy, but in my defense: it's a group of high schoolers

Sound Project Draft

Lingering questions: Should it be staged or should I attempt to capture natural conversations?

Fade in & weave random conversations occurring at the same time on the T.

Focused at center of the piece is a personal discussion, perhaps between two friends? Or two parents? A LOVERS' SPAT????????

The conversation would be extremely personal, perhaps not fit for a public area. I guess I want it to contrast against the openness of the T-- to have all these trivial things alongside such a serious discussion.

SOUND PROJECT(ION)

For my sound project, I want to incorporate one of my favorite things since childhood: the T. It's been my lifeline to Cambridge and Boston. I remember nagging my older sister to take me to Harvard square with her; later on I would commute back and forth for work purposes. Also, it's really great listening to random ends of conversation on the T--

"He wears really nice shoes, which you know is important to me in a man.."

"I thought we were going to die for a second"

"Obama's doing what?!"
