Endocrine Disruptor Film-- comments from critique

I was unable to post my rough cut on my blog, but I will hopefully have it posted soon.

Please post comments here from the critique.

Thanks!

Endocrine Disruptors- Final Piece

This piece will be short educational film about the issue of endocrine disruptors in our society and environment. (Endocrine disruptors are substances that act like hormones in the endocrine system and disrupt the physiologic function of hormones).

Description:

I will introduce the topic of endocrine disruptors by briefly sharing a personal story about DES.

Filmmaker Bio

I am a senior at Newton South High School and I have been a participant in the Institute of Contemporary Art's Fast Forward program for three years. In addition to a long-standing interest in filmmaking, I am active in a school club, Water Aid International, that raises awareness about the world water crisis and money for water infrastructure projects in third world countries. I am also interested in raising awareness about the problems with bottled water. I will be attending Tufts University in the fall.

New Idea

I decided to consider another idea for my final piece. My new idea is to interview people of all ages answering the question, "What do you hope President Obama will address/deal with in his term of office?" and why they think this is an important issue. I have sensed so much excitement and hope about Obama's election and I think it would be really interesting to query people and get a sense of what people care about. The issue with this idea is I think just having a series of people's responses would end up not being very interesting.

First Post of FF 08/09

Technical Goals for this year:
I would really like to improve my audio/sound skills. In my first piece, "A Good Yarn," some of my sound was not very good, and I think my sound improved in my next piece, "Aquafinito." Although I improved somewhat, I think I have a lot more to learn about how to make the sound even better. When thinking about film, I've always focused on the image, and through making some films, I have realized the importance of good quality sound and the effect bad sound has on a film.

A Good Yarn

A gift from a grandmother that keeps giving.
